Italian Sodas, popular in Europe for decades are finally making a hit in the U.S.  And you don’t have to spend a bundle at a trendy cafe.  Make them at home for a fraction of the price and to suit your tastes.  The syrups are now available in an ever increasing number of markets and in a staggering variety of flavors.

For each serving, fill a tall glass with ice, preferably crushed.  Pour a an ounce (or to taste) of Italian Soda Syrup over the ice and fill the glass with Seltzer water or club soda.  Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of appropriate fruit and add a long straw.

For a truly decadent twist, carefully pour in a splash of milk or cream.  I say carefully because, unless you are extremely careful, the addition of the milk or cream will cause the drink to foam and overflow the glass.
