I’d be willing to bet that if you walked up to almost anyone on the street and asked them to name a ballet they would answer either The Nutcracker or Swan Lake, both by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Well, the Nutcracker won’t be back in town until the Holidays, but the San Francisco Ballet Companies production of Swan Lakeis on the boards at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House now through Wednesday, April 12.
If you’ve never seen Swan Lake it is s must. If you’ve never seen a ballet, Swan Lake couldn’t be a better choice for an introduction. What’s not to like? Beautiful music, beautiful sets, beautiful costumes, beautiful people and the ultimate in romantic stories. And, on top of that it’s at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House. A trip to our opera house is always special, so take advantage of our own San Francisco Ballet Company’s spectacular production of a very special piece of theater before the ballet steps aside for the 2017 season of the San Francisco Opera.
