NOAH

            Neighbors Organized Against Hunger

We Always Need Donations of Food:

Yes, we need donations of food in any amount.  What foods help most?  Well, nice as it may be, a jar of caviar doesn’t go very far for a hungry family.  The following are suggestions of what foods go the furthest and help the most, however, we won't turn down any gift.

Staples:

Excellent choices are staples like dry beans, rice, pasta, lentils, split peas and oatmeal.  Non-sugared breakfast cereals also make a great contribution.

No child should ever go hungry.

CHEESE! This is a good thing!

Boxed meals like Rice-a-Roni and

Macaroni and Cheese are helpeful.

We would love to be able to distribute more healthy and nutritious fresh fruits, vegetables and meats, however, being highly perishable, unless donated on Wednesday, the day of distribution, they are difficult for us to handle.

Low on our list are "junk foods": candy, high sugar juice drinks, high sugar breakfast cereal, lunch-ables, and things with a high sugar or high fructose corn syrup content, however, we won't say no to anything.

And of course, as stated before, we won’t turn away any donation,

some items however help more than others.  And no amount is to small.

You may always drop off donations at the Old Fire House on Southwest Boulevard, Rohnert Park, on Wednesdays between 1:00 and 5:p.m.  You may also arrange to make a food donation at other times. Call (707) 795-7853 and we can arrange for someone to meet you at the firehouse and receive your donation.  If transportation of larger food donations is an issue, call  (707) 795-7853 and we can arrange for someone to pick up your donation.
