Makes 3 to 4 burgers
This recipe gives our All American favorite a bit of an oriental flair.
1 pound ground beef – (15 to 20 percent fat)
2 to 3 tablespoons Teriyaki Sauce or commercial
1 or 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
About 1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger root
3 or 4 sesami seed buns
Mayonnaise
Wasabi
Bean sprouts
Thin sweet purple onion slices
Mix the beef, Teriyaki sauce, garlic and ginger together and form into 3 or 4 patties. Grill or broil the patties to desired degree of doneness. Meanwhile, split the buns and lightly toast them. Spread one side of each bun with mayonnaise and the other side with Wasabi to taste. Place bean sprouts on the mayonnaise. It will act as a glue to keep the sprouts on the bun. Place a cooked beef patty on top of the bean sprouts and top with thin slices of onion rings. Cover with the top of the bun and serve. |
